Rainbow Room (2 Year-Olds)

We offer a limited number of places for 2 year-old children. This consists of 15 hours per week free entitlement for those children who are eligible.

The 2 year-old provision takes place in The Rainbow Room in our Dent Educare Centre every morning from 8:30am to 11:30am (term time only). It is staffed by two Senior Teaching Assistants and two Childcare Assistants (staff to child ratio is a maximum of 1:4).

The child are divided into smaller family type groups: Red, Blue, Green and Yellow. A typical Rainbow Room session consists of:

8:30am   - arrive, settle and self-registration

               - a variety of free choice and adult-led activities including gym and/ or outdoor time

10:00am - snack

               - a variety of free choice and adult-led activities including gym and/ or outdoor time

11:30am - home time    

Every child has access to water throughout the session and will be offered milk at snack time. Snack varies each day and every child is offered a range of healthy foods each week, such as a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, bread/ toast, jam, cheese/ spread, crackers, breadsticks, houmous, raisins, pitta breads, wraps, cereal, yoghurt, crumpets and on special occasions and celebrations we may have cakes, hot cross buns, chocolate spread, biscuits, popcorn or crisps as special treats.  

Uniform is not compulsory, but there is Cleator Moor Nursery School uniform available to buy from the School Office. Polo shirts are available in sky blue, gold and white and are priced at £8. Sweatshirts are £10 and cardigans are £11; they are available in scarlet red, royal blue and emerald green. All uniform is sized 2-3 years, 3-4 years and 5-6 years. All sizes and colours are usually in stock in School throughout the year.

In order to apply your family MUST be in receipt of one of the following benefits:

· Income Support

· Income Based Jobseekers Allowance

· An income-related employment and support allowance

· The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

· Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

· Child Tax Credit provided the annual gross income is no more than £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, (this figure changes annually in line with changes to wider tax credit thresholds) and are not in receipt of Working Tax Credits (except during the four-week period immediately after their employment    ceases, or after they start to work less than 16 hours a week)

· or be a Child Looked After by the Local Authority

· If the family receive working tax credits and have annual gross earnings of no more than £16,190 per year as assessed by HMRC

· If the child has a current statement of special educational needs (SEN) or an education, health and care plan

· If child is in receipt of disability living allowance

· If the child has left care through special guardianship or through an adoption or residence order

If your child or your family meets any of the criteria, please complete an application form and submit it with supporting evidence as soon as possible.

However it would be useful if you could inform us that you are making an application and also ensure that you state that Cleator Moor Nursery School is your preferred choice.

When is my child eligible for a free place?

If your child's second birthday falls between:

· 1 January and 31 March, your child will become eligible for a free place from the start of the Summer Term (April)

· 1 April and 31 August, your child will become eligible for a free place from the start of the Autumn Term (September)

· 1 September and 31 December, your child will become eligible for a free place from the start of the Spring Term (January)
