Cleator Moor Nursery School

School Governors

The Governors deal with the overall management of the school, which includes curriculum, finance, staffing and planning.  The Governing Body liaises with the Local Education Authority, which provides training, advice and information.   Governors’ meetings take place at least once a term (minutes of these meetings are available upon request). All Governors are on a 4 year term of office, with Chair and Vice-Chari elections taking place every 2 years.

Our Governing Body constitution is as follows:

  • 1 Local Authority Representative (appointed by Cumbria County Council)
  • 1 Headteacher (automatic appointment)
  • 1 Staff Representative (elected by staff and appointed by the Governing Body)
  • 2 (minimum) Parent Governors (elected by parents where more applications than places are available and appointed by the Governing Body)
  • 2 (minimum but must not exceed the number of Parent Governors) Co-Opted Governors (appointed by the Governing Body)

If you are interested in becoming a Governor, please write a letter to the Clerk declaring your interest, why you wish to be a Governor and what skills you can add to the Governing Body. Please call or visit the Nursery to speak to the Headteacher or Clerk for more information.
