Information About Admissions To Nursery for Children Aged 3 Years

Applications for Cleator Moor Nursery School are welcome from any area.

Parents must fill in an Local Authority application form before the official closing date. The Nursery School can provide an application form on request or you can download one here. This form must be returned to us and proof of address and date of birth need to be provided.

Children are admitted the term following their third birthday.

In the latter half of the term prior to their child starting parents will receive a Cleator Moor Nursery School Admission Form and can choose morning or afternoon sessions where available (Parents are welcome to pop into the Nursery to have a look around with or without their child.)

Towards the end of this term parents will receive a letter advising them of their child’s group (i.e. Dolphin, Panda, Zebra or Penguin). The letter will also include details of their Home Visit date and initial visit dates and times.

There are morning sessions which start at 8:45am until 11:45am and afternoon sessions from 12:30pm to 3:30pm (term time only). Wrap around care can be accessed - please visit our Extended Care page for further details.

Information About Admission to Nursery for Children Aged 2 Years

As from September 2014, we have been offering a limited number of places for 2 year-old children. This consists of 15 hours per week free entitlement for those children who are eligible.

In order to apply your family MUST be in receipt of one of the following benefits:

· Income Support

· Income Based Jobseekers Allowance

· An income-related employment and support allowance

· The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit

· Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

· Child Tax Credit provided the annual gross income is no more than £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, (this figure changes annually in line with changes to wider tax credit thresholds) and are not in receipt of Working Tax Credits (except during the four-week period immediately after their employment ceases, or after they start to work less than 16 hours a week)

· or be a Child Looked After by the Local Authority

· If the family receive working tax credits and have annual gross earnings of no more than £16,190 per year as assessed by HMRC

· If the child has a current statement of special educational needs (SEN) or an education, health and care plan

· If child is in receipt of disability living allowance

· If the child has left care through special guardianship or through an adoption or residence order

Please note that applications should not be made directly to school, but to Children and Families Information Service, Cumbria County Council, Lower Gaol Yard, The Courts, Carlisle, CA3 8NA. However it would be useful if you could inform us that you are making an application and also ensure that you state that Cleator Moor Nursery School is your preferred choice.

The 2 year-old provision takes place in our Dent Educare Centre every morning from 8:30am to 11:30am (term time only).
