Transition to Primary School
Once your child is enrolled in our Nursery School, we will guide you through the admissions process for a Reception place in Primary School, making you aware of all the application deadlines.
All local Primary Schools have open days during the first few weeks of the Autumn Term, so that you and your child can look around, meet the staff and see the school. Alternatively, you can call the school directly to make your own appointment – see Useful links page.
“There are well defined and structured procedures in place to support children with transition to primary school.” Ofsted |
“M is a lot more confident and has come out of her shell. She is well prepared for primary school – thank you.” Parent Feedback |
Our main feeder Primary Schools are Montreal CofE Primary School and St. Patricks RC Primary School in Cleator Moor. Attendance at our Nursery School does not limit your choice of Primary School. We have children transition to Primary Schools all over West Cumbria from Whitehaven, Egremont and Frizington to Ennerdale, Lamplugh and Hensingham.
Applications for Primary School places are made through Cumbria County Council Admissions Team. Please follow the link for more information. Cumbria School Admissions
Children who have their fourth birthday between 1st September and 31st August in the Nursery Classroom will be given a letter in September/ October explaining how to apply for a Reception place. You can complete an online application via this link Primary School Online Application
You have until mid-January to complete your application; however we would advise you do not leave it too long, to avoid a late submission.
If you require any further information or assistance, please ask a member of staff in school.
